Broughton Manor, May I Move in?

February 4, 2012

On our epic tour day we also made a stop at Broughton Castle, a manor built in the 1300s that has been owned by the same family since its commission. The Fiennes family still lives there with the 21st Baron and his wife in the west wing of the castle.

They also have their own moat, chapel, and gardens.

They let us try on some medieval armor.

And finally a tour of the gardens

I also have a cute little video of an interesting artifact inside the manor. Hint: it is a child’s toy. First person to guess will get a sneak preview of the video. Either way stop back here tomorrow to find out!

Until then I am going to enjoy this quiet, snowy evening here in Oxfordshire.

Cheers.

My guess: a rocking horse. Also, fun fact: the Great Hall of the castle was used as the dance scene in the movie Shakespeare In Love.
